In 1991 or so at Washington D.C.’s Irish Folk Festival, I was flipping through the event program and saw an ad for an album in which Donal Lunny proclaimed Paddy Keenan “The Hendrix of the pipes.” Honestly, I laughed. It’s still an amusing combination of words to me now. As a teen it was hilarious.
Then I bought a copy of Old Hag You Have Killed Me and heard Paddy Keenan play. Jimi Hendrix would have been honored.
